Global Affairs Table: Liberia

Please join us on Wednesday October 28th at 12:45pm in the Alumni Lounge in the Usdan Student Center (above Levin Ballroom) for a roundtable on Liberia.

As a follow-up to the film \"Pray the Devil back to Hell\" screened on Wednesday 10/21 by Coexistence International at Brandeis, this discussion will address issues of democratization and development in Liberia since the end of the civil war and the advent of the Johnson-Sirleaf Government.

We are privileged to have in attendance:

Michael Keating, the Associate Director of the Center for Democracy and Development at UMass Boston. CDD is an NGO dedicated to judicial and media reform, and Mr. Keating has had experience working in Liberia, as well as with the rehabilitation process of the University of Liberia.

Reverend George Walters, a Liberian Doctoral candidate at Boston University with degrees in Sacred Theology in Philosophy, Theology, and Social Ethics from BU. Reverend Walters will be presenting on post-war reconstruction in Liberia and ethical imagination. He will be doing a socio-historical and political analysis of Liberia in light the 15 years of civil war, the economic implications and the recent Truth and Reconciliation Commission Report.

We look forward to seeing you there!
